Christmas

Once more in my life I was blessed with a great opportunity to hit the roads with Lars and some friends and spend Xmas up in the north or Western Australia in Kalbarri. Garth, which is Lars housemate and has become a good friend of ours, as well as Bianca(whom has also become a dear friend to both of us), both grew up there.Therefor we were able to stay at Garth's parents where we camped in a vintage camper van with palm trees, a breathtaking sky full of stars and the sound of waves each and every night. Singing birds and the magical flattering of the hundreds of Dragonfly wings woke us with the soft and warm light of the rising sun each morning. Every day was jam-packed with activities and unbelievable adventures, experiences as well as treasured moments (well, every second of the time we left Perth up to arriving back there again really!) which will live in our memories for the rest of our lifes.
Christmas day was celebrated with a grilled, aussie Breakky, then preparing the huge ammount of indeginously tasting and huge variety of foods ( Fresh Cray Fish we went fishing for that morning, Prawns, Salads, Ham, Turkey, Fruit, Pavlova, Triffles, Cakes and and and), Beers, wine, lunch, water fights including every single family member and guest!!!!!:), more drinks, more food, laughs, giggles, sun, fun, boccia, fantastic, openhearted and amazing people and conversations and to cut it short, just having a tremendously great christmas in about 42degrees heat:) The following days were filled with fishing, cray fishing, eating, eating, eating, drinking, wakeboarding, walking, kayaking, laughing, happiness, peace, sleeps(only very few hours though)road trips, farm visits, beach, cliff jumping, and most possible fun on earth! We absoulutely adore and love the north, kalbarri, the coast, the gorges and garths whole family!
So here some Pix to make you jelous if you are sitting in minus 30 degrees swiss mountains with beautiful thick snowflakes falling, snowboarding and candles and fire burning inside, all rugged up with a cup of hot wine punch ( i guess i admire you for this as you can tell;) but as one always says, we can't have everything in life can we...or do we at times?!)
much love, merry christmas to all of you, blessings and all the very best for 2011!

Sacred Monkey Forrest Ubud - Bali

From the Rice fields down to the next impressive sight. The monkey Forrest is a small rain forest dwelt by some group of monkeys and other tropical animals. It is strategically located in the hearth of Ubud village. The monkeys are believed as Gods Guard of Dalem Agung Temple, The Hindu Temple which exist in the middle of forest. There are three Holy Temples there and have been existing surround the forest and estimatedly built in the middle of 14 century. We absoulutely were stunned of the gigantic trees and lianas on which the monkeys swang across with a speed of light at times. It should be about an hours drive from denpasar but as we managed to get lost in the streets of denpasar each time we had to drive trough, it took us ages! no bother as the nice thing about travelling, you dont have to be anywhere at a certain time (well, thats at least our idea of travelling). At this stage we were getting pretty sore on our back parts from sitting on the scooter though..:)

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

The Rice fields of Jatiluwih give a new meaning to the word green. They crawl up the sides of the hills like steps leading you towards the sky. And like so much of Bali, the terraces are as equally empty as they are beautiful. Jatiluwih was recently listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its preservation of traditional Balinese farming techniques. So you can imagine, we both were sweept away from its stunning beauty and the infinite freedom of peace as there was hardly any one up there and the temperature was quite pleasant seeing we were on 700 metres above sea level and approximately 48km away from Denpasar.

Monkey Temple

So after another fantastic breakky, which by the way we are already addicted to at this stage!and is a culinary delight to my spiced up taste buds!, we hit the roads with our scooter. Quite happy that Lars was driving we thread our way trough the busy Indonesian streets to the south of the Island where we went to visit the Monkey Temple in Ulu Watu. Humidity, heat, cheeky as well as semi agro aggressive, accessory stealing monkeys and a lovely purple sarong for Lars were part of our Temple experience. We discovered that we prefer dried coconut to fresh and soft flesh of the fruit and that petrol prices were ridiculously low..

Bali - Indonesia

After a few hours living with the unknown whether or not we will be departing to Denpasar from Perth today or not due to some difficulties with our airline because of the volcanic ash from mount merapi in Java which has been errupting again, we ended up in the busiest part of the beautiful Indonesian Island of Bali which is called Kuta/Legian. After wandering around for several hours trying to find a suitable place to sleep and taking in all the new impressions, we finally crashed in our hotel room (which by the way was around 14AUD per night for the double room!). After an awesome indonesian rice breakfast we hit the streets to explore the markets and crazy party town which is full of tourists, market stalls, lots of traffic, western food places and clubs/pubs and magic mushroom shops aswell as locals selling drugs on every corner. to cut it short: terrible! not our taste at all to be honest. Anyways, after an exhausting day shopping for Lars and bairgaining we failed to hit the clubs as we were way too exhausted! ;) so what do we learn out of this? do NOT spend a whole entire day in the streets of Kuta! Jumping to the conclusion, we decided to hire a scooter and drive off to the country side the following day..

A fantastic day..

What does it need for a fantastic day? A wide range of possibilities and options of course. I would consider that yesterday was one of these days, that definately deserves to be called as such!:) After a refreshing and energizing run around the lake at Claremont I went for a coffee and catch up with one of my lovely girlfriends. Subsequently a visit at Subiaco Farmers Markets was on the list where Lars waited for me with one of the best woodoven Pizzas I have ever had.. Seeing Lars desperately wanted to try out his new Kitesurfing gear we made our way down to Leighton beach where we met up with our Friend Anne for a session of Kitesurfing, fooling around with trying our best handstands and some beach yoga followed by some awesome tasting Sushi which was just about melting on your tongue it was so tender and fresh with the simultaneous view of a beautiful sunset over the indian ocean..what more does one want or need!?
Here some impessions for you:)
